General Manager, Software Business Unit

About the role

ABNO Softwares International is hiring a General Manager for its software business unit in Nairobi. You will shape the unit's strategic direction, oversee day-to-day operations and ensure software solutions are delivered to the market, driving innovation, efficiency and growth.

Key responsibilities

• Set the unit's objectives, agenda and standards under the executive's leadership, and develop the long-term vision, mission and goals
• Formulate a strategy for people management and software development, including product roadmaps, technology adoption and market positioning
• Lead the business unit and collaborate with stakeholders to improve efficiency, effectiveness and impact
• Work with the HR lead on talent management and development, and lead and motivate cross-functional teams such as software engineers, product owners, accountants, business analysts and QA professionals
• Move the unit from sales-led to product-led growth, using a high-quality product and strong customer experience, and turn customer feedback into opportunities for cross-selling and up-selling
• Monitor budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting, keeping an eye on profitability and cashflow KPIs, and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality
• Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements and quality control processes throughout the SDLC
• Drive innovation and technology adoption, including hackathons, and stay ahead of industry trends
• Communicate clearly and transparently with internal and external stakeholders

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or a related field (master's preferred)
• At least 8-10 years of experience in software development with a proven project delivery track record
• Strong leadership, decision-making and strategic thinking skills
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and software development life cycles
