Graduate Trainee – Electrical Engineering

About the role

Our client, a leading food manufacturing brand in East Africa, is looking for a passionate Graduate Trainee in Electrical Engineering. The role offers hands‑on exposure to manufacturing processes while supporting the maintenance, repair, and commissioning of factory machinery, utilities and infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Execute preventive, autonomous and planned maintenance on machinery, standby generators and utilities.
• Support repair and servicing activities to maximise equipment availability.
• Participate in commissioning and installation of new equipment and engineering systems.
• Implement OSHA audit findings and other safety and improvement initiatives.
• Drive continuous‑improvement projects, including process automation, to enhance operational efficiency.
• Maintain accurate equipment logs, job cards, performance records and calibration data.
• Train machine operators on basic diagnostics, preventive maintenance and early‑warning signs.
• Ensure clean, hygienic workstations and support food‑safety programmes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (Second‑Class Upper minimum; First Class preferred).
• At least one year of industrial exposure, preferably in food manufacturing or a similar production environment.
• Strong interest in maintenance, safety and continuous improvement.
