About the role
The Head Chef will lead the kitchen brigade, drive culinary creativity and ensure strict financial and hygiene standards in a high‑volume restaurant environment.
Key responsibilities
- Design seasonal menus, create new recipes and plan daily specials.
- Hire, train, schedule and mentor kitchen staff to foster a positive work culture.
- Manage food costs, monitor inventory, place stock orders and reduce waste.
- Build relationships with vendors to secure fresh, quality ingredients at fair prices.
- Enforce local health, hygiene and food safety regulations such as HACCP during all shifts.
- Oversee food preparation and inspect every dish before it leaves the pass to guarantee consistency.
Required profile
- Minimum 3–5 years experience in a high‑volume, professional kitchen.
- Culinary arts degree or relevant vocational certification.
- Strong communication skills and ability to stay calm under intense service pressure.
- Proven track record of managing food budgets and labour costs.
- Physical stamina to stand for long hours in a hot, fast‑paced environment.
