Head of Collections - Strategy & Analytics
FairMoney · Nairobi
Job description
About the role
FairMoney is building the leading mobile banking and POS platform for emerging markets. As Head of Collections – Strategy & Analytics you will own the end‑to‑end performance of cash collection, arrears and recovery economics, shaping upstream inputs and driving data‑led decisions.
Key responsibilities
- Take full accountability for cash collected, arrears, roll‑rates, PAR/NPL and recovery economics.
- Design and execute a multi‑horizon collections strategy covering short‑term cash optimisation, mid‑term recovery improvement and long‑term customer behaviour change.
- Build structured early‑ vs late‑stage collection approaches, segmentation‑driven treatment strategies and incentive‑based interventions.
- Introduce experimentation frameworks (control vs test) and ROI‑driven rollouts.
- Partner with Risk and Data Science to optimise roll‑rates, analyse behaviour, measure treatment effectiveness and report transparent unit economics.
- Develop a high‑calibre leadership bench, upgrade talent and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Influence Product, Risk, Tech and CX teams, challenge designs that harm recoveries and represent collections at senior leadership forums.
- Improve collections outcomes while preserving long‑term customer value and reducing escalations through system fixes.
Required profile
- Minimum first degree in a related field and at least 8 years of collections experience with senior leadership responsibility.
- Proven track record of turning around or materially improving collections performance in lending, fintech or credit‑led businesses.
- Experience operating in data‑rich, fast‑moving environments.
- Willingness to spend at least one week per month in Nigeria.
- Strong ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives and drive measurable results.
What we offer
- 25 days paid vacation plus sick and public holidays for B2B contractors.
- Fully remote work with significant CET time‑zone overlap.
- Training and development budget.
- Paid business trips and relocation allowance.
