Head of Economic & Market Research

About the role

The Head of Economic & Market Research will lead KCB Bank’s research department, ensuring analytical outputs support strategic objectives and customer needs. This senior position combines economic forecasting, market intelligence, and stakeholder engagement to drive informed decision‑making across the bank.

Key responsibilities

• Set the strategic direction for the research function and embed research into business planning cycles.
• Develop and maintain econometric models to forecast GDP, inflation, interest rates and FX.
• Provide economic and market intelligence on consumer trends, sector performance and emerging risks.
• Deliver scenario planning and decision‑support analyses for ALCO, Credit Committees and Global Markets.
• Act as public spokesperson with media, policy think‑tanks and international bodies such as the IMF and World Bank.
• Collaborate with internal units and group subsidiaries to tailor research outputs for executive, retail and corporate audiences.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics or Financial Economics; Master’s degree is an advantage.
• At least 8 years of experience in economic research and macro‑economic analysis.
• Minimum 6 years of progressive people‑management and leadership experience.
• Proven experience in company or macro modelling and valuation methodologies.
• Experience presenting at economic forums and managing diverse stakeholder groups.

Required skills

• Proficiency with econometric/statistical software such as STATA, R or Python.
• Data‑visualisation tools like Power BI or Tableau.
