Head of Sales - General Insurance

About the role

The Head of Sales for General Insurance drives the overall sales strategy, develops effective distribution channels and achieves revenue targets for the general insurance business. The role focuses on strengthening market presence, building strategic partnerships and delivering customer-centric insurance solutions. It is a full-time position based in Nairobi.

Key responsibilities

• Sales strategy and execution: develop and implement a sales strategy aligned with organizational goals, set and monitor performance targets, identify new markets, customer segments and growth areas.
• Channel development: build and manage a multi-channel distribution network covering agents, brokers, assurance and digital platforms; strengthen existing partners and onboard new ones; train and support channels.
• Customer acquisition and retention: drive new customer acquisition, retain existing clients, work with product development on tailored solutions and use customer feedback to improve service.
• Team leadership: lead, mentor and motivate the sales team, conduct regular performance evaluations and promote a culture of excellence, innovation and accountability.
• Market analysis and reporting: analyze market trends, competitors and customer behaviour, report sales performance, market insights and revenue projections to senior management, and monitor regulatory compliance and company policies.

Required profile

• At least 10-15 years of experience in sales within the general insurance industry, with 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
• Experience managing multi-channel distribution networks, including digital sales platforms.
• Strong familiarity with the regulatory landscape of the general insurance market.
