Head of Technical – Tyre Business

About the role

The client, a leading player in the competitive tyre market, is looking for an experienced technical professional to head its Technical Department. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will establish and lead the after‑sales technical support and fleet tyre management functions, driving customer confidence and business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and manage the after‑sales technical support function for customers.
• Conduct tyre performance analysis, including mileage, wear patterns and operating conditions.
• Develop and oversee fleet tyre management programmes for key accounts.
• Train customers and internal sales teams on tyre performance, maintenance and best practices.
• Investigate tyre claims and defects in liaison with suppliers and manufacturers.
• Collaborate with production to improve retread quality through technical feedback.
• Support the sales team with technical audits and presentations to secure major fleet contracts.
• Prepare technical reports and performance analyses to aid decision‑making.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the technical support function.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum five years of technical experience in truck tyres, retread operations, fleet management or automotive after‑sales services.
• Hands‑on experience with a retread facility is an advantage.
• Proven exposure to tyre performance analysis and tyre management systems.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and customer relationship management abilities.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
