About the role

Novartis is seeking a senior leader to shape and execute national access strategies for priority therapeutic areas across Sub‑Saharan Africa. The role will influence pricing, reimbursement, and health‑economic evidence to ensure sustainable market entry of innovative medicines.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement national access strategies, including indication sequencing and long‑term planning.
• Represent the payer perspective in early pipeline shaping and clinical development discussions.
• Build strategic partnerships with governments, payers, patient groups and other ecosystem stakeholders to co‑create affordable healthcare solutions.
• Lead national pricing strategy, price governance, tendering and innovative contracting, including outcome‑based agreements.
• Define and execute HEOR/HTA strategies, oversee value dossiers, economic models, BIA/CEA analyses and HTA submissions.

Required profile

• University degree in Health Economics, Public Health, Life Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacy, Economics or equivalent; advanced degree preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in market access, HEOR, pricing, health policy or related fields.
• Direct leadership of teams of 10‑20 people.
• Deep understanding of the SSA healthcare ecosystem and experience working with regulators, HTA bodies, payers and policymakers.
• Proven track record in price negotiations, innovative contracting and shaping payer strategies.
