Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Trainer

About the role

Unity Homes is looking for an experienced Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Trainer to design, develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programmes across its construction operations. The role involves creating training plans, conducting sessions for site workers and management, and promoting a culture of safety and risk mitigation.

Key responsibilities

• Assess training needs and develop organisation-wide HSE training plans, materials and presentations, including for weather days and stand-downs.
• Deliver engaging safety training sessions tailored to site workers, technical engineers and senior management.
• Ensure compliance with statutory frameworks such as OSHA 2007, WIBA 2007, NEMA and NITA, and with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
• Lead incident investigations and foster a psychologically safe environment that encourages near-miss reporting and proactive risk mitigation.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of experience managing HSE training in construction or oil and gas.
• IDIP or IGC NEBOSH certification (or equivalent) and NITA-registered trainer status with Train-the-Trainer accreditation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field.
• Certified auditor for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Integrated Management Systems.
