Homebased Psychiatrist Consultant

About the role

The International Organization for Migration seeks a qualified psychiatrist to provide remote consultancy services. The consultant will evaluate mental health cases referred by panel physicians or government officials, ensuring compliance with CDC and DSM guidelines for U.S.-bound refugee populations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct psychiatric evaluations of all referred cases, including mental health disorders and substance‑related conditions.
• Classify identified conditions in strict compliance with CDC guidelines and DSM classification.
• Prepare written recommendations for follow‑up, case management, and psychiatric treatment before and after resettlement.
• Issue clear fitness‑to‑travel determinations, noting any special travel requirements.
• Produce comprehensive written reports detailing patient history, clinical findings, diagnoses, and recommendations.
• Coordinate any additional services only after written agreement on scope, timeline, and fees.

Required profile

• University degree in Medicine with specialization in Psychiatry.
• Minimum seven years of relevant professional experience.
• Professional accreditation from a recognized medical or psychological association (advantageous).
• Proven experience diagnosing and managing a wide range of psychiatric disorders.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary settings or with vulnerable populations such as migrants and refugees.
• Prior experience conducting psychiatric evaluations, preparing clinical reports, and providing fitness‑to‑travel assessments.
• Experience in training, mentoring, or advising medical staff on mental‑health matters (advantageous).
