Hotel & Restaurant Accountant

About the role

The Hotel & Restaurant Accountant will report to the General Manager/Finance Manager and oversee all financial activities across the hotel, restaurant, catering, workshop, transportation, and accommodation services. This role ensures accurate accounting, revenue tracking, cost control, and compliance with tax and statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Financial accounting: maintain accurate records, prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports, manage accounts payable and receivable, perform bank reconciliations, and produce profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
• Revenue management: monitor and reconcile income from accommodation, restaurant sales, catering, events, vehicle hire, transportation, laundry, and other rentals.
• Kitchen cost control: track daily food costs, calculate food cost percentages, prepare recipe costing, monitor waste, and analyze menu profitability.
• Food portioning & loss control: develop standard portion guides, minimize wastage, investigate spoilage, and recommend cost‑saving measures.
• Inventory & store management: supervise food, beverage, general, engineering, and workshop stores, handle receiving, issuance, valuation, monthly counts, and stock reconciliation.
• Purchasing control: verify requisitions, compare supplier quotations, ensure competitive pricing, validate invoices, and monitor supplier balances.
• Catering services accounting: cost events, prepare budgets, monitor profitability, and reconcile revenues and expenses.
• Workshop and transportation accounting: manage vehicle repair, equipment maintenance, spare parts, driver expenses, fuel consumption, and fleet profitability.
• Accommodation accounting: reconcile room occupancy reports, verify room revenue, and monitor related expenses.

Required profile

• Mid‑level accounting experience (minimum 2 years) in a hospitality environment.
• Strong knowledge of financial statements, revenue streams, and cost control techniques.
• Ability to collaborate with multiple departments such as kitchen, workshop, and transport.
