HR Business Lead – Strategic HR Operations
path
Job description
About the role
The HR Business Lead works directly with the Chief People Officer (CPO) on strategic, board‑level, and governance initiatives while managing the administrative backbone of the HR office. This high‑visibility position blends executive support, strategic communications, HR reporting, and project coordination, leveraging AI tools to automate routine tasks.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the CPO’s calendar, travel arrangements, and expense submissions, using scheduling tools to minimize manual effort.
- Handle approvals on behalf of the CPO, including timesheets, Workday, and Business World transactions, and act as the point of contact for signing authority matters.
- Transform verbal directions or brief notes into board‑ready decks, memos, and analyses, employing AI for drafting and then refining content.
- Coordinate board and governance materials, gathering input from HR, Legal, and other stakeholders, tracking versions and meeting deadlines.
- Own HR Leadership Team meetings – scheduling, agenda creation, minute taking, and action‑item tracking.
- Provide insights from recurring HR metrics reports (headcount, turnover, time‑to‑fill, engagement, compensation ratios) and build ad‑hoc reports as needed.
- Maintain a live dashboard of major HR initiatives, track decisions, and run the CPO’s decision‑delegation system to ensure timely follow‑up.
- Lead HR communications, including full ownership of the HR newsletter, from content coordination to final editing and distribution.
- Design and run quarterly HR Leadership Team retreats, handling content, logistics, facilitation support, and post‑event follow‑up.
Required profile
- Minimum 5 years of experience in HR, consulting, executive support, or corporate strategy.
- Experience supporting senior executives directly is preferred.
- Strong English fluency and excellent written communication skills.
- Comfort with ambiguity, shifting priorities, and high‑visibility environments.
- Discretion and sound judgment handling confidential information.
- Legal authorization to work in Kenya.
Required skills
- Working knowledge of Workday.
- Familiarity with Business World.
- Practical experience using AI tools to automate repetitive tasks.
