HR Leave of Absence Specialist

About the role
We are looking for an experienced HR Leave of Absence Specialist to manage employee leave programs and ensure compliance with federal, state, and company policies. You will work closely with employees, managers, HR teams, and external partners to deliver accurate and timely leave administration across multiple states.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate and administer all types of employee leave cases, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
- Guide employees and managers through the leave process, explaining policies, procedures, and eligibility.
- Evaluate leave eligibility, review medical certifications, and meet required timelines.
- Maintain accurate leave records in HRIS systems and provide necessary documentation throughout the leave lifecycle.
- Track leave usage, ensuring employees stay within approved entitlements.
- Partner with HR teams, managers, and employees to address inquiries and escalations.
- Administer FMLA and state‑mandated leave programs.
- Investigate potential misuse or compliance issues related to leave.
- Meet departmental productivity and service‑level standards.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years of HR experience, preferably in Leave of Absence administration.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and multi‑state leave regulations.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining confidentiality.
Required skills
- Experience with HRIS platforms
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint
