HR Manager / Head of Human Resources

About the role

Smart Brains Kenya is seeking an experienced, hands‑on HR Manager to lead the full employee lifecycle for a fast‑growing education and technology company. Reporting to the CEO, you will build robust people‑management systems, improve accountability, and ensure consistent implementation of HR policies across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Manage employee attendance, time‑keeping and accountability.
• Oversee performance management and disciplinary processes.
• Handle employee resignations, exits and asset recovery.
• Develop and enforce HR policies, procedures and Kenyan employment law compliance.
• Lead recruitment, staffing and onboarding for tutors, field staff and other roles.
• Maintain accurate HR records, reporting and HR information systems.
• Drive training, employee development and support the CEO on HR matters.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in HR management, business administration or related field.
• Professional HR qualification (e.g., CHRP‑K) and 5‑8 years progressive HR experience, preferably managing 100+ staff.
• Proven experience handling disciplinary actions, employee relations and attendance management.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan employment legislation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently, investigate issues and enforce company policies.
