Human Resource Business Partner

About the role

The Human Resource Business Partner will lead HR strategy, policy, recruitment, employee relations and payroll for a leading insurance and financial services brokerage in East Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organisational goals and ensure compliance with Kenyan employment law.
• Manage full recruitment lifecycle, onboarding, probation, internships and employee separations.
• Handle employee relations, grievance investigations, disciplinary processes and performance management programmes.
• Administer compensation, benefits, salary benchmarking, payroll processing and statutory remittances (PAYE, SHIF, NSSF, Affordable Housing Levy, NITA).
• Oversee HR information systems, data protection, record‑keeping and support HR audits.
• Lead internal communications, employee engagement events and occupational safety and health initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration or related field; CHRP or equivalent professional qualification.
• At least six years progressive HR experience, with minimum two years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Experience in financial services or insurance sector is an advantage.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Kenyan employment and labour laws.
• Understanding of SHIF, NSSF, PAYE, Affordable Housing Levy and NITA statutory requirements.
• Proficiency in payroll and HR information systems.
• Strong spreadsheet and data analysis skills.
• Familiarity with Learning Management Systems and basic instructional design.
