Human Resource Officer

About the role

The Human Resource Officer will oversee HR operations for City Walk’s retail network in Nairobi. This role ensures smooth recruitment, onboarding, payroll processing, employee relations and compliance with Kenyan labour legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate end‑to‑end recruitment, onboarding and induction for new hires.
• Maintain accurate employee records and HR databases.
• Monitor attendance, leave and other employee movements.
• Prepare payroll inputs and support monthly payroll processing.
• Handle employee relations matters, including disciplinary actions and grievance resolution.
• Support performance management, probation reviews and employee confirmations.
• Organise training, engagement and welfare initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with labour laws, company policies and HR best practices.
• Prepare periodic HR reports and assist with HR audits.
• Provide HR support to multiple retail branches and advise line managers on HR issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a related field.
• CHRP qualification is an advantage.
• Membership with the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) is desirable.
• Minimum of 3 years’ HR experience, preferably in retail, FMCG or a multi‑branch environment.
• Proven experience using HRIS and payroll systems.
