HVAC Technician

About the role

Aga Khan Academy Mombasa, an International Baccalaureate World School, is seeking a qualified and experienced HVAC Technician. The successful candidate will install, maintain and repair heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems so that all facilities have safe, efficient and reliable climate control, supporting a comfortable learning and working environment.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair HVAC systems and equipment across all facilities.
• Carry out routine inspection, testing and preventive maintenance in line with manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults down to the component level and carry out corrective repairs.
• Maintain, repair and upgrade air conditioning infrastructure and ventilation control systems to ensure good indoor air quality.
• Develop, modify and implement preventive maintenance programmes to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
• Inspect work done by external contractors to ensure compliance with quality, safety and performance standards.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, service reports and technical drawings.
• Ensure HVAC controls and automation systems are properly calibrated and configured for energy efficiency.
• Handle refrigerants, electrical systems and mechanical components in line with health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Advise management and other maintenance staff on HVAC issues and upgrades.

Required profile

• KCSE or equivalent.
• Diploma in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning or a related technical field from a recognised institution.
• At least 3 years of experience in HVAC installation, maintenance and repair in an institutional, industrial or commercial setting.
• Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations on refrigerant handling.
