ICT Assistant – SACCO Operations

About the role
The ICT Assistant will keep the SACCO’s technology running smoothly, ensuring member transactions, staff workflows and regulatory reporting are never disrupted. Working under the ICT Manager, you will be the first point of contact for any technical issue and will also perform routine monitoring, patching and backup checks to prevent problems.
Key responsibilities
- Provide front‑line user support by receiving, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, network and application tickets.
- Assist with day‑to‑day operation and monitoring of the Core Banking System and other business applications, escalating complex issues.
- Install, configure and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, switches, routers and access points, maintaining a preventive maintenance schedule.
- Create and maintain user accounts, credentials and permissions in line with access control policies, revoking them promptly when roles change.
- Apply antivirus, endpoint protection, firewall monitoring and patching, reporting incidents and vulnerabilities to the ICT Manager.
- Run backups, verify data restoration, monitor system uptime and participate in business continuity and disaster‑recovery testing.
- Support digital channels such as mobile banking, USSD, ATM, internet banking and EFT integrations, coordinating with vendors for service requests.
- Maintain asset registers, support logs, system configurations and user guides, and prepare routine ICT, management and regulatory reports.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
- Two to three years of hands‑on ICT support experience, preferably in a SACCO, micro‑finance or banking environment.
- Practical knowledge of computer hardware, software installation, operating systems and basic network administration.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365, networking fundamentals, databases and routine system administration tasks.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles, endpoint protection, antivirus management and user access controls.
- Experience with backup procedures, IT asset management and technical documentation.
- Exposure to Core Banking Systems or financial technology applications is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting ability, clear communication and ability to work independently.
