Innovations Manager

About the role

The Innovations Manager will report to the CEO of Britam Micro Insurance and lead the creation of innovative products, processes and technology solutions for emerging individual and SME customers. Using an agile innovation model, the role will establish and own the emerging consumer innovation framework, align strategy with business goals, and secure grant and donor funding to scale initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Drive customer growth by designing and launching innovative insurance solutions for individuals and SMEs.
• Develop a data‑driven understanding of customer segments and collaborate with business development and external partners to co‑create tailored offerings.
• Assess commercial viability of projects, coordinate cross‑functional delivery, and ensure timely, on‑budget execution.
• Maintain a continuous pipeline of ideas, turning stakeholder insights into actionable innovations.
• Monitor local and global trends in products, technologies and solutions to keep Britam competitive.
• Identify and nurture strategic partnerships beyond InsurTech, FinTech and banking sectors.
• Translate the innovation strategy into a clear roadmap aligned with broader business objectives.
• Lead grant and fundraising activities, building relationships with donors, DFIs and innovation funds.
• Prepare and present proposals, updates and risk analyses to the CEO.
• Develop detailed project documentation and manage external partners and internal teams.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in innovation roles within the financial services industry.
• University degree in Actuarial Science, Engineering, IT or Commerce.
• Proven track record of delivering innovation projects and securing grant or donor funding.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.

Required skills

• Project Management certification and demonstrated project management experience.
