Inpatient Pharmacy In Charge – Kisumu

About the role

The Inpatient Pharmacy In‑Charge will lead the pharmacy operations within the hospital, ensuring safe and accurate dispensing of medicines and efficient stock management. This full‑time, on‑site position reports to the Pharmacy Manager and works closely with clinical teams.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise pharmacy staff, verify prescriptions, and ensure compliance with PPB standards.
• Maintain accurate billing of drugs, including manual processes when the hospital system is down.
• Monitor stock levels, conduct daily counts, spot checks and monthly stock takes, and generate purchase orders (LPOs) for suppliers.
• Capture all stock movements in the Hospital Information System (HIS) in real time.
• Manage expiry dates, implement FIFO/FEFO, and coordinate disposal of expired or damaged items.
• Ensure fridge temperatures are recorded twice daily and report any deviations.
• Escalate out‑of‑stock items, quality issues, and sentinel incidents promptly.
• Maintain a clean, organized pharmacy environment and uphold infection‑control standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (or related field) and registration with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
• Valid practising licence.
• Minimum three years of pharmacy experience, including at least one year in a supervisory role.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational awareness and ability to work under pressure.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Hospital Information System (HIS) for real‑time stock and billing management.
• Expertise in pharmacy inventory control and stock‑taking procedures.
