Instrument Laboratory Analyst

About the role

The Instrument Laboratory Analyst will perform chromatographic and elemental analyses on food, non‑food and other samples using advanced instrumental techniques. The role supports SGS’s commitment to high‑quality testing, ensuring results are accurate, reliable and delivered within agreed turnaround times.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct instrumental analyses (GC‑MS/MS, LC‑MS/MS, GC‑MS, GC‑FID, ICP‑OES, UV‑Visible Spectrophotometer) following SOPs, client guidelines and international standards.
• Maintain compliance with the laboratory QA/QC system, ISO 17025 and GLP where applicable.
• Prepare samples, manage data integrity, and ensure raw data supports final results before approval.
• Adhere to health‑safety procedures for sample handling, retention, disposal and laboratory housekeeping.
• Monitor turnaround times and meet client testing requirements, providing 24/7 service coverage as needed.
• Stay updated on analytical standards and develop new methods for validation and adoption.

Required profile

• Minimum degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field.
• At least two years of laboratory testing experience, preferably in a multi‑purpose laboratory.
• Good knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 9001 and HSE standards.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow detailed testing protocols.
