Internal Audit Officer

About the role

The Internal Audit Officer will conduct internal audits, review financial and operational controls, and carry out investigative and special audits. The role includes verifying transactions and branch records, following up on audit recommendations, preparing audit reports, and identifying control weaknesses and risks.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine, investigative and special internal audit assignments.
• Assist in reviewing annual audit programmes and procedures.
• Perform post‑audit reviews to assess implementation of recommendations.
• Prepare audit reports and follow up on recommendation implementation.
• Participate in surprise audit checks and verify payment validity.
• Prepare and implement annual audit plans in liaison with the internal auditor.
• Examine overdrawn accounts and inform relevant authorities.
• Vouch cash documents from all branches and verify stock purchases.

Required profile

• Fully completed CPA qualification (CPA(K)).
• KA diploma in banking or accounts (advantageous).
• Minimum C+ grade in KCSE.
• Computer literate.
• High analytical and communication skills.
• Understanding of Sacco policies and procedures.
