ISP Field Technician – Embu

About the role

The ISP Field Technician will join a fast‑growing broadband provider to deliver on‑site installation, maintenance and support for residential, SME and enterprise customers in Embu and surrounding areas. You will act as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring high‑quality service delivery and rapid resolution of network issues.

Key responsibilities

• Respond promptly to customer complaints and service tickets while maintaining professional conduct.
• Conduct site surveys, install and terminate fiber optic cables, perform splicing, patching and testing.
• Configure Optical Network Terminals (ONTs), routers, switches and other customer premises equipment.
• Carry out aerial and underground cable installations, ensuring proper routing, labeling and protection.
• Implement structured cabling solutions, including Cat6 termination, patch panels, faceplates and cable containment.
• Troubleshoot LAN/WAN connectivity issues, replace faulty hardware, and diagnose fiber signal degradation.
• Perform preventive maintenance on fiber and network infrastructure and escalate complex faults to Network Engineers or NOC teams.
• Complete accurate installation reports, maintenance logs and update tickets within agreed timelines.

Required profile

• Diploma or Certificate in Telecommunications Engineering, IT, Electrical Engineering, Computer Networking or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years hands‑on experience in fiber optic installation, ISP field operations and structured cabling.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer‑service orientation.
