IT Intern – Hardware, Network & Systems Support

About the role

Java House Africa is seeking an IT Intern to support the availability and reliability of hardware, CCTV, printers, UPS systems and network infrastructure across its headquarters and branch locations in Westlands, Nairobi.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure hardware, CCTV, printers and UPS systems are operational at HQ and branches.
• Provide end‑user support for computer hardware, software and network issues.
• Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on workstations and other IT equipment.
• Assist with desktop hardware upgrades and rollout of new store projects.
• Maintain an inventory of IT equipment and manage network installations and customizations.
• Troubleshoot printer, cabling and network problems, and log incidents in the Helpdesk.
• Generate regular reports on application, network and system availability.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or Diploma in Electronics, Computer Science or related field from a recognized university.
• Relevant certifications such as A+, N+, MCT or MCITP.
• At least 2 years of experience with computer hardware, system software and remote site support.

Required skills

• Hardware troubleshooting, including POS, printers and cabling.
• Network support – WAN, LAN, installation and customization.
• Experience with Windows Server 2003/2008, Active Directory and Windows XP environments.
• Knowledge of UPS systems, CCTV and EPOS support.
