IT Support - Hospitality

About the role

The IT Assistant supports the hotel's day-to-day technology operations so that all IT systems, networks, hardware and software run efficiently. The role provides technical support to hotel staff and guests, troubleshoots issues, maintains IT equipment and helps keep hospitality systems such as PMS, POS, internet connectivity, telephony and CCTV running smoothly. It is a full-time position based in the Nairobi area.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first-level IT support to Front Office, Finance, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage and HR, and help guests with internet and in-room technology issues
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, printer and network problems, and assist staff with logins, email and system use
• Maintain the hotel network, Wi-Fi and internet performance, and help maintain PMS, POS, key card, CCTV, telephony and smart TV systems
• Install, configure and update computers, printers and other equipment, and carry out routine checks and preventive maintenance
• Support data backups, system recovery, antivirus updates and security patches, and monitor access and user permissions
• Set up audio-visual equipment for meetings, conferences and events
• Keep records of IT assets, repairs and maintenance, and log support requests
• Coordinate with external vendors for repairs and escalations, and report major issues to the IT Manager

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field
• Minimum 1-2 years of IT support experience; hospitality experience is a must
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills, ability to work under pressure and respond quickly
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays if required

Required skills

• Knowledge of computer hardware, software, networking and troubleshooting
• Familiarity with PMS and POS systems is an added advantage
• Basic understanding of network infrastructure, CCTV and telephony systems
