Java Software Engineer – Remote (Kenya)

About the role

We are looking for a Java Software Engineer to join a global network security software company through Tana. The role is fully remote for candidates based in Kenya and involves building and enhancing features that integrate with customers' network security protocols.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain Java software modules and services.
• Build features that integrate with network security protocols and infrastructure.
• Develop scalable, maintainable applications in Linux environments.
• Collaborate with engineers, product teams and stakeholders in an agile setting.
• Contribute to software architecture, data modelling and API design.
• Write clean, efficient, well‑tested code and participate in code reviews.
• Debug, troubleshoot and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• 2+ years of professional Java development experience.
• Strong understanding of core Java concepts and common design patterns.
• Familiarity with Spring Framework or Spring Boot.
• Experience with SQL or NoSQL databases.
• Knowledge of API development and backend services.
• Ability to work effectively in agile or Scrum teams.
