Junior IT Officer

About the role

Our client, a leading organization in the oil and gas sector based in Nairobi, is looking for a Junior IT Officer to provide technical and operational support. The role involves assisting with hardware and software troubleshooting, supporting IT systems and users, maintaining accurate IT records, and helping implement and maintain technology solutions to ensure reliable operations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑line technical support to employees, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, network and user‑access issues, escalating complex incidents as needed.
• Support day‑to‑day administration of computers, network infrastructure, user accounts, Microsoft 365/Google Workspace and other business applications.
• Maintain accurate IT asset registers, configure and deploy devices, and manage user onboarding and off‑boarding.
• Implement routine security controls, software updates, antivirus protection, backups and access‑management procedures.
• Monitor IT systems, keep service and incident records, document recurring issues and prepare basic IT reports.

Required profile

• KCSE grade B+ or above and a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience; fresh graduates are also encouraged to apply.
• Good understanding of IT systems, applications and basic troubleshooting.
• Strong analytical, communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• Willingness to learn and work collaboratively in a team.
