Lecturer (Hospitality) - Grade 12

About the role

Mama Ngina University College, a constituent college of Kenyatta University, is recruiting a Grade 12 Lecturer in Hospitality (reference MNUC/L/001/2025). This is the entry grade for PhD holders in the teaching cadre, working under the direct supervision of a senior officer. The position is open to applicants with a PhD in Hospitality Management or a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Hospitality and Tourism.

Key responsibilities

• Lecture in hospitality according to the syllabus
• Coordinate course projects and practical work
• Prepare teaching and learning materials
• Set, invigilate and mark examinations and assignments
• Carry out research and develop proposals for research funding
• Write journal articles and books, and present papers at conferences and seminars
• Develop and review academic programmes and curricula
• Supervise tutorial and junior research fellows and students
• Manage research budgets and execute budgets for student field trips
• Provide leadership in the department where appropriate and carry out other duties assigned

Required profile

• Earned PhD in Hospitality Management, or Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Hospitality and Tourism or equivalent
• At least three years of university-level teaching, research or industry experience
• Minimum of 24 publication points, at least 16 from refereed journals
• Member of a relevant professional body in good standing
• Evidence of attendance and contribution to conferences, seminars or workshops
• Proficiency in computer applications
