Lecturer – Mathematics

About the role

Mount Kenya University is seeking a dedicated Lecturer in Mathematics to join its academic staff. The role involves delivering undergraduate, diploma and certificate courses, supervising student projects, and contributing to the university’s research agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in curriculum development and review, preparing course outlines and learning materials.
• Teach Mathematics courses across undergraduate, diploma and certificate programmes.
• Set, invigilate and administer examinations, ensuring compliance with attendance requirements.
• Supervise student projects, attend defence meetings and support successful completion of studies.
• Conduct research, prepare publications, present at conferences and attract research funding.
• Facilitate field studies, assess students during attachments, internships or trips.
• Attend official university meetings, functions and perform assigned administrative duties.

Required profile

• PhD in Mathematics or an equivalent qualification from a recognised academic institution.
• Master’s degree in Mathematics or an equivalent qualification.
• Bachelor of Education (Mathematics) or an equivalent qualification.
• Minimum three (3) years of teaching experience in a recognised academic institution.
• Ability to report to the Deputy Director, Academic & Research Affairs.
