Lecturer - Medical Laboratory Sciences

About the role

Chuka University seeks a dedicated Lecturer in Medical Laboratory Sciences to join the School of Nursing and Public Health. The successful candidate will contribute to high‑quality teaching, research, and community engagement while supporting the university’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Medical Laboratory Sciences.
• Develop and review curricula, teaching materials, and assessment tools.
• Conduct scholarly research, publish in refereed journals, and secure research grants.
• Supervise student research projects and theses.
• Provide academic advising, mentorship, and student assessment.
• Engage in community outreach, consultancy, and collaborative research activities.
• Participate in departmental, school, and university committees.
• Perform administrative duties related to academic programmes.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Medical Laboratory Sciences, or an MSc in Medical Laboratory Science (Haematology and Blood Transfusion) with at least three years of post‑graduate practice, plus a BSc in the same field.
• Registration with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB) and a valid practicing license.
• At least one peer‑reviewed publication or book chapter in the relevant field.
• Demonstrated effective university‑level teaching experience.
• Proficiency in computer applications relevant to teaching, research, and learning.
