Lecturer, Physiology

About the role

Mount Kenya University is seeking a full‑time Lecturer in Physiology to join its Department of Physiology. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, research, and curriculum development for undergraduate, diploma and certificate programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in curriculum design, review and continuous improvement.
• Prepare detailed course outlines and learning materials aligned with syllabus objectives.
• Deliver lectures, tutorials and practical sessions for various programmes.
• Set, invigilate and grade examinations, ensuring compliance with attendance policies.
• Supervise student projects, theses and defend meetings.
• Conduct research, publish findings and present at conferences.
• Secure external funding to support departmental research activities.
• Facilitate field studies, internships and assess student performance during attachments.
• Attend departmental and university meetings, and perform assigned administrative duties.

Required profile

• Master of Medicine in Physiology from a recognised institution.
• MBChB (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) qualification.
• Minimum three years of teaching and research experience in a recognised academic institution.
• Relevant industry experience and registration with the appropriate professional body.
• PhD or eligibility for PhD registration is an added advantage.
