Legal Consultant

About the role

The Legal Consultant will support Dira HR Solutions in managing trafficking cases, preparing survivors for court, and liaising with prosecutors, investigators and foreign missions. This contractor role focuses on ensuring timely legal follow‑up, strategic litigation and effective data reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and follow up on trafficking court cases, track hearing dates, rulings and required actions.
• Prepare and support survivors for testimony, explaining court processes and safeguarding their rights.
• Maintain regular communication with prosecutors, investigators and foreign embassies to minimise delays and manage repatriation procedures.
• Provide legal advice on strategic litigation, compensation, restitution and other remedies.
• Maintain confidential case records, produce timely written updates and final consultancy reports.
• Collaborate with M&E, Research and Programme teams to analyse case trends and improve data management systems.

Required profile

• Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practising certificate.
• Minimum five years (60 months) experience in criminal justice and court case management.
• Experience working on human trafficking, gender‑based violence or child protection cases.
• Proven ability to liaise with prosecutors, investigators and justice‑sector actors.
• Familiarity with repatriation processes and coordination with foreign missions (advantage).
• Strong analytical skills to identify case trends and translate them into actionable recommendations.
• High standards of professional ethics, confidentiality and integrity.
