About the role
A non-profit client in Nairobi is looking for a Legal Operations Associate to give execution-focused legal support to its Program and Country teams. It is a temporary contract position of 6 months, reporting to the Acting Counsel, Africa Programs.
Key responsibilities
- Support contracting and recurring legal workflows: prepare agreements from approved templates, gather inputs, coordinate internal review and move agreements through signature and filing.
- Maintain contract, legal and entity records and ensure routine matters are documented and closed out consistently.
- Coordinate with Country and Program teams to gather information and documentation, and escalate questions outside established frameworks to Counsel.
- Support registrations, renewals, filings, permits and other regulatory processes by preparing documentation, tracking requirements and deadlines, and coordinating follow-through.
- Execute routine due-diligence and compliance processes within Legal Risk & Compliance frameworks, and help maintain local trackers and records.
- Help implement legal and compliance requirements together with Counsel, Legal Risk & Compliance and Country teams.
- Work with Country teams and HRMs to roll out organization-wide policies, learning and guidance, and flag where they do not work well in practice.
- Act as a reliable local point of coordination for recurring legal and compliance processes.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B) from a recognized university, or a degree in Commerce or Business Administration with a good understanding of contracts and experience in contract management or procurement workflows.
- Experience in legal operations, contracts administration, program operations, compliance operations or a comparable execution-focused role.
- Additional training or certification in compliance, contract management, legal operations or risk management is an advantage.
- Right to work in Kenya and immediate availability are encouraged.
