Library Assistant II – Library Services

About the role

The Library Assistant II will support the delivery of library services for the Elgeyo Marakwet County Public Service Board in Iten. The role involves acquiring, organising, cataloguing and preserving library materials while assisting users with their information needs.

Key responsibilities

• Manage library services including acquisition, organization, cataloguing and classification of materials.
• Assist users with information searches and provide reference services.
• Prepare materials for binding, arrange shelves, and handle charging and discharging of library items.
• Maintain library records and support research and reading activities.
• Ensure preservation and accessibility of library resources.
• Provide training and orientation to library users on resource utilisation.

Required profile

• Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (or equivalent) with a mean grade of C and at least a C in Mathematics, English or Kiswahili.
• Diploma in Library Studies, Information Science or a recognised equivalent qualification.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Demonstrated ability to work on‑site in a public service environment.
