Line Accountant – Financial Controls & Reporting

About the role

The Line Accountant will manage day‑to‑day financial operations for Startup Lions Assets Kenya Ltd., ensuring accurate transaction recording and strong financial governance across multiple projects. This role supports timely reporting, safeguards resources, and enables effective decision‑making in a fast‑growing, donor‑funded environment.

Key responsibilities

• Record daily financial transactions, process invoices, receipts, payment vouchers and maintain up‑to‑date ledgers.
• Prepare monthly bank, cash and mobile‑money reconciliations, tracking advances and supplier accounts.
• Support preparation of departmental and project budgets, monitor expenditures and flag variances.
• Assist with payroll processing, statutory deductions (PAYE, NSSF, SHIF, AHL) and maintain payroll files.
• Produce monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and support internal and external audits.
• Maintain asset registers, coordinate inventory verification and ensure compliance with internal policies and donor requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related field.
• CPA Section 2/3 or higher; CPA(K) is an advantage.
• Minimum 4 years of hands‑on accounting experience, preferably with community development or donor‑funded projects in rural Kenya.
• Proven experience in reconciliations, financial reporting and enforcing financial controls.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Odoo ERP for financial entries, reconciliations and reporting.
• Strong ability to perform financial reconciliations and budget tracking.
