Linguist Recruiter & Interpreter (Nairobi)

About the role

The Linguist Recruiter & Interpreter will work from Piedmont Global’s Nairobi office, combining talent acquisition for African language specialists with hands‑on interpretation and translation work. This dual focus ensures a robust bench of linguists and immediate delivery capacity for client requests.

Key responsibilities

• Source, screen, and onboard interpreters and translators for African and lesser‑diffusion languages, prioritising Somali and Swahili.
• Deliver over‑the‑phone and video remote interpretation, as well as written translation, in qualified language pairs.
• Execute full onboarding compliance, including contracts, tax forms, background checks and platform registration.
• Track and report weekly metrics on onboarding, fill rates, missed requests and time‑to‑fill for the assigned language portfolio.
• Partner with Interpretation Operations and the VP of Staffing to convert unfilled requests into active capacity and to identify supply gaps.

Required profile

• Professional fluency in English and at least one in‑demand African language (Somali strongly preferred).
• 2+ years of recruiting, sourcing or talent‑acquisition experience, or demonstrated ability to source hard‑to‑find talent.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Valid Kenyan work authorization and ability to work onsite during assigned coverage hours.
• Strong organisational, prioritisation and problem‑solving skills with a high degree of ownership.
