Local Procurement Officer

About the role

A Local Procurement Officer is needed in Karen, Nairobi, to source, evaluate and negotiate with local suppliers and service providers for construction materials, equipment and services. The role works closely with project managers, engineers and site teams to support property development and construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Source, evaluate and negotiate with local suppliers and service providers for construction materials, equipment and services
• Prepare and process purchase requisitions, orders and contracts in line with company policies
• Maintain an updated supplier database and monitor supplier performance
• Ensure timely delivery of goods and services to project sites
• Forecast procurement needs with project managers, engineers and site teams
• Ensure compliance with budgets, quality standards and local procurement regulations
• Prepare procurement reports, cost comparisons and savings analyses
• Manage local vendor relationships to ensure reliability and competitive pricing

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field
• Minimum 2-5 years' experience in procurement, preferably in construction or real estate development
• Strong understanding of local supplier markets and sourcing practices
• Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills
• High level of integrity, organization and attention to detail

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office and procurement systems
• Membership of a recognized procurement professional body is an added advantage
• Experience with organization-based ERP is an added advantage
