Maintenance Assistant

About the role

A leading Oil and Gas company, recruited through Stratostaff East Africa, is looking for a Maintenance Assistant in Nairobi on a fixed-term contract. The role ensures equipment is kept maintained, serviceable and available so that operations run safely and on time. Scheduled maintenance must be completed and documented, critical spares kept in stock, defective equipment taken out of service, and all work comply with aviation, safety, quality and company requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Draw up a maintenance schedule for equipment according to the quality and operations manual.
• Confirm that scheduled maintenance is carried out as planned and fully compliant.
• Maintain critical spares and perform scheduled maintenance on all equipment to the required standards.
• Verify depot maintenance meets safety standards in line with ISO, JIG/ATI and company HSEQ directives.
• Review the defect logbook daily to plan repairs and tag defective equipment out of service.
• Ensure scheduled maintenance is completed on time and properly documented.
• Hold accountability for spares inventory, the maintenance schedule and equipment availability and serviceability.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (Automotive).
• At least 2 years' experience in the maintenance or aviation industry.
• Ability to manage equipment serviceability and critical spares.
• Strong coordination and communication skills with internal and external stakeholders, and supervisory and team coordination skills.
