Maintenance Technician

About the role

Bennett Heat Treating & Brazing Co., Inc. is looking for an experienced, self-directed maintenance technician to cover all production-equipment and facility-maintenance activities. The role is hands-on: you will personally troubleshoot, repair, inspect and maintain electrical and mechanical systems. It is an individual-contributor position with no direct reports, and the company considers a strong maintenance supervisor ready to take full ownership of the function.

Key responsibilities

• Electrical maintenance: diagnose and repair electrical failures, work safely with systems up to 480V AC and DC, inspect components and wiring, use test equipment to find faults, and coordinate specialized work with qualified contractors.
• Mechanical maintenance: repair production equipment, maintain water pumps, vacuum pumps, furnace elements, fans, motors and hydraulic equipment, and reduce repeat failures through root-cause analysis.
• Vacuum furnace maintenance: perform routine and corrective maintenance, investigate vacuum leaks and heating issues, and coordinate furnace downtime with Operations and Production; on-site training is provided.
• Preventive and predictive maintenance: schedule and carry out inspections, lubrication and adjustments, track recurring failures and move the facility toward a more preventive model.
• Production equipment repair: respond quickly to failures, prioritize repairs, communicate downtime estimates and test equipment after repairs.
• Facility and building maintenance: schedule routine and emergency work, coordinate utilities, lighting, HVAC, plumbing and structural repairs, and supervise contractors.
• MRO inventory: organize spare parts, monitor stock levels and plan repairs with the right labour, tools and parts.
• Quality management system support: keep accurate repair and preventive maintenance records, support audits and corrective actions, and work with Quality personnel.
• Safety, health and environment: follow lockout/tagout and hazardous-energy-control procedures, report unsafe conditions and ensure contractors follow safety requirements.
