Manager, Disasters, Climate and Crises

About the role

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies is seeking a senior professional to lead its disaster, climate and crisis portfolio in Kenya. The role combines strategic oversight, programme design and partnership management to strengthen resilience across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee large‑scale humanitarian programmes and operations addressing disasters, climate change and crises.
• Design, implement and monitor resilience‑building and development activities in partnership with Red Cross Red Crescent National Societies, NGOs and civil society organisations.
• Manage multi‑disciplinary teams, ensuring effective coordination and capacity building.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with donors, government entities and other stakeholders, securing resources and aligning objectives.
• Provide strategic guidance and technical support to national societies on health interventions, disaster management and climate resilience.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Disaster Management, Humanitarian Affairs, International Relations, Public Policy, Climate/Environment, Development Studies or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Successful completion of the Basic IMPACT Course or equivalent training.
• 10–12 years of experience in humanitarian response, disaster management or climate resilience, including at least 7 years in senior management roles.
• Proven experience designing, leading and managing large‑scale humanitarian programmes and operations.
• Demonstrated experience building capacity of Red Cross Red Crescent National Societies, NGOs and civil society organisations.
• Extensive experience working in multicultural, international environments and with the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement.
