About the role
The Manager, Sustainability Programs & Subsidiary Liaison will drive the implementation and scaling of KCB Group’s climate and green finance strategy across all subsidiaries. Acting as the primary bridge between the Group Sustainability team and country operations, you will embed climate considerations into credit and business processes while ensuring alignment with the Group’s Green Framework.
Key responsibilities
- Support the rollout of the Group’s climate and green finance strategy by integrating climate‑related criteria into business and credit workflows.
- Identify, screen, classify and validate climate‑aligned and green transactions in line with the Group’s Green Framework and relevant taxonomies.
- Serve as the central liaison between the Group Sustainability team and subsidiaries, coordinating communication, alignment and follow‑up on sustainability initiatives.
- Coordinate the consistent application of Group sustainability frameworks, including the ESMS, Green Lending Framework and climate risk guidelines.
- Provide technical guidance to Relationship Managers, Credit, Risk and Business teams on structuring climate finance transactions and applying green eligibility criteria.
- Work with Credit and Risk functions to embed environmental considerations into credit appraisal, underwriting and portfolio monitoring.
- Design and deliver training programmes to build capacity on climate finance, green lending and sustainability frameworks.
- Collect and consolidate climate finance data from subsidiaries for internal monitoring and sustainability reporting.
- Engage with regulators, development finance institutions and industry bodies on climate finance and green lending matters.
- Monitor regional and global developments in climate finance, sustainable taxonomies and regulatory requirements, recommending enhancements to the Group’s practices.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university.
- Professional qualification in Sustainable Finance, ESIA, ESRM or training in Green/Climate taxonomies.
- Minimum three years of relevant experience in sustainability, specifically in climate finance, green lending and related frameworks.
- Experience with Environmental and Social Management Systems (ESMS) and IFC Performance Standards.
- Proven ability to screen and classify green or climate‑aligned transactions.
