Material Engineer

About the role

Tatu City is looking for a Material Engineer to oversee material specifications, procurement and compliance for high‑end construction projects. Reporting to the Project Manager, the role ensures that all materials meet design intent, quality standards and project schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Review, analyse and approve material specifications, technical datasheets and test reports to ensure compliance with design and architectural standards.
• Identify and pre‑qualify premium suppliers across the Middle East, China, India, North Africa and East Africa, acting as the primary technical contact during procurement and factory inspections.
• Prepare and present material catalogues, mood boards and sample boards for consultant and executive review.
• Oversee material testing protocols, verify that delivered items match approved samples and assess long‑term durability of luxury finishes.
• Track production lead times and logistics to align material delivery with the master construction schedule and drive value engineering through sustainable, cost‑effective alternatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or architectural engineering; an MBA is a strong advantage.
• Minimum ten years of experience as a Material Engineer on large‑scale, high‑end real‑estate developments.
• Established networks and direct procurement experience in the construction material markets of the Middle East, China, India, North Africa and East Africa.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Building Information Modeling (BIM) environments.
• Strong knowledge of material testing protocols and quality assurance processes.
• Familiarity with industry standards such as British Standards and Eurocodes.
