Medical Billing Specialist

About the role

The Medical Billing Specialist will ensure accurate processing and submission of medical claims, supporting the revenue cycle of our healthcare clients. You will work closely with the coding department and interact directly with patients and insurers to resolve billing issues.

Key responsibilities

• Accurately process and submit medical claims using proper coding standards.
• Verify patient information, insurance eligibility, and coverage before claim submission.
• Track claims, follow up on unpaid or denied claims, and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Collaborate with the coding team to ensure compliant claim submissions.
• Assist patients by explaining billing processes, payment options, and account balances.
• Process patient and insurance payments and apply them to the correct accounts.
• Handle appeals and re‑submissions for denied or under‑paid claims.
• Maintain detailed records of billing transactions, postings, and adjustments.
• Generate and analyze reports on billing, collections, and accounts receivable to optimize revenue.
• Stay updated on changes in insurance policies, coding requirements, and healthcare regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Health Information Management, Accounting or a related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in medical billing, coding, or healthcare revenue cycle management.
• Strong understanding of insurance claims processing and healthcare regulations.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently with high attention to detail in a high‑volume environment.
