Medical Officer – Athi River

About the role

Equity Afia is seeking a qualified Medical Officer to join its network of franchised outpatient centres in the Athi River area. The role involves delivering high‑quality, affordable healthcare to patients while adhering to Kenyan health regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide outpatient clinical consultations and follow established care plans.
• Prescribe and administer medication in line with best practice.
• Maintain accurate patient records using Health Management Information Systems.
• Ensure compliance with national healthcare policies, documentation, and reporting procedures.
• Collaborate with nursing staff and other stakeholders to optimise patient outcomes.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Medicine or Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB or MBBS) from a recognised university.
• Registered with a valid licence from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
• Minimum one year of internship experience in a public or private hospital.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Good knowledge of Kenyan health laws, regulations and schemes.
• Strong computer proficiency, especially with Health Management Information Systems.
