Medium Voltage Transformer Technician

About the role

Renewance is looking for a Field Service Technician specialized in medium‑voltage transformers to support inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, commissioning and decommissioning of transformer assets used in utility‑scale energy storage and renewable‑energy facilities. The role involves hands‑on field work across North America, supporting both transformer equipment and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, testing, troubleshooting and repair of medium‑voltage transformers and related electrical equipment.
• Support transformer commissioning, energization and decommissioning activities.
• Diagnose equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Assist with maintenance and service tasks on utility‑scale BESS projects.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, single‑line diagrams and technical manuals.
• Complete service documentation, inspection reports and customer deliverables.
• Follow all safety procedures, including OSHA, NFPA 70E and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
• Represent Renewance professionally at customer sites throughout North America.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience with medium‑voltage electrical equipment, transformers, switchgear, substations or power systems.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and technical documentation.
• Experience leading small work‑site teams and ensuring quality completion.
• Willingness to travel extensively and work in outdoor industrial environments.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to access customer sites.
