Mid-level Apigee X Developer (AI)

About the role

Abacus Consulting is looking for a Mid-level Apigee X Developer to design, build, and support AI‑powered applications that leverage Large Language Models, Retrieval‑Augmented Generation and AI agents. The role sits at the intersection of AI development and API management, delivering secure, scalable services to enterprise clients.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy AI‑enabled applications and intelligent automation solutions.
• Integrate Generative AI, LLM, RAG and AI‑agent capabilities into enterprise systems.
• Create secure APIs using Google Apigee X to expose AI services.
• Implement API security policies (OAuth2, JWT, API keys, rate limiting, quotas, threat protection).
• Develop prompt‑engineering, AI orchestration and workflow automation solutions.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for AI applications and API deployments.
• Monitor performance of AI applications and APIs, troubleshoot issues and optimise.
• Contribute to AI governance, API standards and reusable development frameworks.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI, Data Science or a related field.
• 3–5 years of software development experience, including AI‑enabled applications.
• Hands‑on experience with Google Apigee X and API management.
