ML Research Engineer / Scientist – Remote (Kenya)

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated ML Research Engineer / Scientist to join a research‑driven team focused on building next‑generation AI models for complete CT studies. The role is fully remote and based in Kenya, offering a fast‑track from lab experiments to regulatory submissions and real‑world clinical deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, train, and evaluate machine‑learning models that interpret whole‑study CT scans.
• Research foundation‑model approaches for 3D and volumetric medical imaging at large scale.
• Develop vision‑language models that link images with radiology terminology and reporting patterns.
• Create models that detect and prioritize multiple urgent clinical findings while maintaining safe operating points.
• Own end‑to‑end research projects, from hypothesis formation through training, evaluation, calibration, and production readiness.
• Collaborate closely with fellowship‑trained radiologists to translate clinical requirements into model improvements.
• Contribute to work that progresses toward regulatory submissions and clinical deployment.

Required profile

• Strong practical experience in modern machine learning and deep learning.
• Proven ability to design custom architectures, loss functions, and distributed training pipelines.
• Experience working with large‑scale medical imaging data and understanding of clinical workflows.
• Self‑directed researcher comfortable taking ownership of projects from start to finish.
