About the role
We are looking for a Motor Assessor to join the Claims Department of First Assurance Kenya. The role involves providing operational and technical support for motor claims, ensuring accurate vehicle damage assessments and fair settlements while protecting the company’s financial interests.
Key responsibilities
- Inspect and assess vehicle damages accurately and prepare detailed assessment reports.
- Validate and control overall vehicle repair costs, recommending settlements in line with policy guidelines.
- Negotiate with garages to secure competitive repair pricing and review external assessors’ reports.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and mitigate potential fraudulent activities and manage technical disputes.
- Conduct post‑repair inspections to verify quality of work.
- Meet established service level agreements and timelines for claims processing.
- Suggest workflow and process improvements within the motor assessment function.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in an insurance company, busy automotive repair workshop, or reputable motor assessment firm.
- Relevant insurance qualifications such as ACII, Diploma in Insurance (UK), AIIK, or Diploma in Insurance (Kenya).
- Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC) in Business, Commerce and Management Studies.
