Motor Rewinder

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Motor Rewinder to join our workshop in Westlands, Nairobi. The successful candidate will diagnose faults, perform rewinding and repair of AC/DC motors, alternators and transformers, and ensure all work meets safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct thorough inspections of motors, alternators and transformers to identify winding failures, insulation breakdowns, bearing issues or mechanical damage.
• Use diagnostic instruments such as megohmmeters, multimeters and motor testers to evaluate condition and performance.
• Disassemble equipment, remove old windings, clean cores and prepare them for rewinding.
• Calculate winding specifications and perform rewinding manually or with winding machines, applying appropriate insulation materials.
• Carry out electrical tests (continuity, resistance, insulation resistance, surge comparison, hipot) and mechanical tests (vibration analysis, bearing checks) after rewinding.
• Document test results, repairs and materials used for traceability.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on motors and advise maintenance teams on proper handling.
• Follow all safety policies, wear PPE and maintain a hazard‑free workshop environment.

Required profile

• Entry‑level qualification with up to 3 years of experience in motor repair or rewinding.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and manufacturer specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
