Motor Vehicle Supervisor (M/F)

About the role

Mombasa Container Terminal (MCT), a subsidiary of Africa Global Logistics (AGL), is a container handling facility at the Port of Mombasa, Kenya, serving as a gateway for imports and exports to Kenya and neighbouring countries. It is recruiting a Motor Vehicle Supervisor on a fixed-term full-time basis to supervise and coordinate vehicle movements in the yard.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all nominated units arrive at the yard from the port safe and intact.
• Check that units are tallied by the relevant agencies (BV/MCT staff), positioned in the blocks and locked by the assigned clerks or drivers.
• Coordinate and supervise all motor vehicle activities of assigned personnel.
• Record incidents in the incident form and report them to management for action.
• Ensure safety and safe working conditions are always followed.
• Plan yard staffing so operations are not disrupted by lack of personnel.
• Submit daily yard operation and performance reports by close of business, and give 24-hour factual reports.
• Liaise with the port supervisor so that dispatched units are received, and confirm that released units' documentation meets management thresholds.
• Document and escalate damaged or anomalous units to management.
• Assist the yard manager during off-duty or leave periods.
• Check gate passes against the system and update units received, delivered and verified by email hourly and daily.
• Carry out other duties reasonably assigned by management.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Port Operations Management, Transport and Logistics Management or a related field.
• 3 years of experience in yard operations, vehicle logistics, port or terminal operations, or fleet management.
• Knowledge of vehicle yard management and port and terminal operations.
